[edit] Goal

Allow the quick creation of a collaboration space by defining a custom form where volunteers can transform unstructured data into structured data.

[edit] Comparison to other solutions

Crowdflower

  • We want to create an open source and free tool. Crowdflower is proprietary and commercial.

Textonic

  • Textonic only allows tagging data, it's designed to receive SMS as it's input, and works only with Amazon Mechanical Turk.

We want:

  • define the tasks by using a flexible form (ideally xforms)
  • be able to receive any kind of sources (through RSS feeds)
  • expose the results through a feed so any application can consume the results

TaskOverflow

  • We plan to accept standard form definitions, to allow any kind of data structure to be created (maybe using xforms)
  • We want each "TaskHub" to accept RSS Feed as sources and output feeds as well so it can be connected to and from any application.
