[edit] Concept

Let's fill the gap between "forecasters" and people with collective intelligence.

Saracura is a database, an alert service and a social network project which aims to provide a way to help people, warning them (based on prediction) in heavy rainfall situations (floods, landslides, down trees, etc), based on information from public services, and collective intelligence.

[edit] How it works?

Forecast providers, emergency services and people contribute to the database providing data and information (rain volume and wheather forecasts, flood local/points, landslides risk local/points, down trees, problems events, etc).

People, News providers, NPOs and communities radios, can also subscribe to the alert service, in order to receive predictions of potential risks previously (weeks, days or hours before), or in real-time (less than an hour).

Saracura service then generates alert events using SMS (the most media popular between people living in risk areas), email or twitter for people based on thresholds.
