Best way and times to contact during RHoK 2.0
Email or Twitter. We'll be attending the NYC session.
The more prepared people are before a disaster, the more resilient they will be when they need to react to a disaster. Not enough people have a pre-determined emergency contact list or an emergency supply kit, so the ability for people to keep track of both in one application is a powerful tool.
We're proposing an easy to use smartphone application (on multiple devices) that allows people to: (Feature 1) create a master emergency contact list and (Feature 2) keep track of their emergency supply kit.
Feature 1
Offer a way for people to select friends from their various social network sites, email contacts, and phone contacts (for text messages) to create one master emergency contact list on the smartphone. People would be able to send messages to everyone on the list, regardless of the social network site their contact is using. People can send messages to their emergency contacts before a disaster, but more importantly, this will allow them to send messages to their emergency contact list after a disaster and let them know "I'm OK" or "I’m not OK" etc.
Feature 2
Offer a way for people to keep track of their emergency supply kit and identify what they have and what they need. And then offer a way for people to push messages to their friends when they update an item in their kit (via social network sites, text message), so you can say “I’m Prepared” --- and encourage others to "get prepared."
