[edit] Summary

When a natural disaster unfolds, e.g. a volcanic eruption, there are always questions about what actually is happening on the ground – e.g. does the volcano produce lava flows or which direction does the ash travel? This project proposed a way to deploy people with laptops or mobile phones in the field to produce near-real time imagery to a web site where this information is geo-located, aggregated and accessed by those in need of this kind of information.

Maybe something like this could be embedded into Ushahidi using e.g. uStream. It may already exist.
